A native of Dallas, TX, Erin Wasson rose into world fame by winning a local modeling contest sponsored by the Dallas Morning News at the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. When Erin joined the contest, she did not realize that it would radically change her life.
Represented by IMG Models which is considered to be the most powerful modeling agency in the world, Erin Wasson took the fashion world by storm the moment she reached New York. First the runways and then layouts in both American and international Vogue editions.
Vogue's Andre Leon Talley who seem to have an aversion to Texas blonds, (he commented on national TV, "Oh, one of those Texas blonds" in a very derogatory tone) proclaimed that Erin Wasson was a "scandal" on the runway because of her uncoventional, unweildy walk. But as it turned out, Erin's signature stomp didn't trip up her career whatsoever. Instead, Erin's opened the Gucci collection in Milan Fall 2001 and did an estimated 60 shows that season.
Erin Wasson's assets include her edgy girl-next-door beauty who can be a clean-cut American in one moment to a sophisticated European the next. She is part of the crop of models who is bringing individuality back on the runway, when both the clothes and the model are being looked at.
