По сюжету пьесы Алан Стрэнг, мальчик-конюх, на почве любви к лошадям ослепляет их и сходит с ума (роль психиатра Дайзерта исполнял Ричард Гриффитс, — Дядя Вернон в «Гарри Поттере»). После того как в журналах были опубликованы фотографии Гарри Поттера и лошади (Дэниела Рэдклиффа), поднялась большая шумиха — родители фанатов ГП хотели запретить выступать Рэдклиффу в этой пьесе!
Герой Рэдклифа, Уолесс - самый обычный, немного старомодный молодой человек. Он знакомится на вечеринке с сумасбродной Чентри (Зои Казан). Знакомство могло перерасти в романтическую историю, если бы Чентри не упомянула о наличии бойфренда. Уолесс решает стать другом. Фильм The F Word /«Слово на букву «Д» ставит вопрос, который стар как мир: могут ли мужчина и женщина быть ПРОСТО друзьями?
Уолесс и Чентри постоянно разговаривают друг с другом по телефону, ходят в кино, вместе обедают в кафе - ведут себя как обычная пара, с той лишь разницей, что парой они не являются. Вместе ходят по магазинам, вместе отправляются в поход, даже купаются голышом вместе.
